2022 Was a Whirlwind + 2023 Marks My TENTH YEAR IN BUSINESS!!!
We started 2022 with Covid and some downtime, but then my parents let us know that they were relocating to Texas and we HAD TO buy my childhood home from them! I mean, we HAD TO! It's on a private family street, shared with some of my aunts, uncles and my grandfather, I grew up here, there's more land for more chickens (lol) and my brother passed away in this house. There's even my grandmother's signed name in the concrete, from years before she passed away. We just couldn't see it sold to anyone else. So, we got busy on readying our house on Evans Grove to sell and we were so terribly grateful to sell it so quickly! All of a sudden, the years of upkeep, painting, remodeling, adding a cool wood stove and just making that house our home paid off. We had no intentions of selling until this opportunity was in our lap and we had to act fast. We were so blessed that the market was the way it was at the time of our sale because not only did our home sell fast FSBO, everything went so smoothly and, just like that it was time to move back home. :)
After we got settled in, it was time to shift my focus back to work and start planning for mini sessions. I kept thinking about how I'd used the side yard of this house for photographing families years ago, but the way the sun set made me want to point my camera towards my aunt's house instead of towards the pretty woods, so I wanted to add some kind of permanent backdrop to the yard. I started collecting pallets and built a huge pallet wall with supports and now I have a faux barn, or just a solid spot to create more things for my clients! It was a hit for 2022 Fall and Christmas sessions and it was easy to reschedule due to rain and not have to worry about dragging all of my props to a location again and again.
Going into 2023, I already have some ideas in store for my TENTH YEAR IN BUSINESS and I'm glad 2022 was the whirlwind it was!!! Thank you to my awesome clients!
Here are some photos of my family with my sister in law's family, plus our chickens and dogs enjoying our Christmas tree. :)
