Over the Fall season, a friend of mine, Alison shared a snippet of a story with me about her friend's family member with cancer. This friend of a friend would be a young teen named, Katie. The snippet that I received was that this would be Katie's SECOND time with cancer. The first time she had cancer, she was a child and she had leukemia. But now, Katie has stage 4 brain cancer. My jaw hit the floor.
My friend asked if I could fit this young lady and her family into my schedule and if I could do it very soon. You see, there was a biopsy coming up and she would need to shave her head, so she wanted Katie to have her portraits taken before that happened. We arranged to meet on a weeknight for a quick family session.
Then, maybe a month ago, I received a quick text from Katie's mom, asking if they could use the images I took for something. I immediately said yes! I remember the text saying what the "something" was, but until my friend shared it to her Facebook page, I don't think I realized it was going to be this amazing video interview.
Now, I never shared her images with my Fall session blog posts because I didn't know if they'd want me to and I hadn't asked. Then, I saw the video and I thought more people should see it. I will add images from their session below, but please check out her story by clicking the following link to see Katie's story in more detail: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GV7Bv9zcAb8.
