What to Expect Info
You should know that I'm a laid back person and so are my sessions. A photo session with me will be a chance for you and your family to giggle, give hugs and create lasting memories together. I will simply be there to document them. So easy, right? Let's do this!
When you send an email inquiry, we'll chat back and forth about a few things. Then, if I'm the right photographer for you, a collection and session date can be chosen.
Booking with me is easy. After the date and time are confirmed, I'll send you a link to an online contract, including a payment request for part of the session fee. I'll pencil you in for up to one week before completing the contract and retainer. When the contract is signed and fee is paid, the spot you requested will be secured. The rest of the session fee isn't due until the day of your session.
*If a week goes by and I don't hear from you, the contract link may expire, I usually assume you changed your mind and the date could go to the next person.
About a week before your session, I'll email you with specific driving and parking directions. My phone number will be in the signature line of my email in case you need it the day of your session.
Before your session, I ask that your family has a meal, or a large snack, so everyone's happy! A possible late nap may be in order for the little ones, if it's summertime, since I shoot close to sunset.
During your session, we'll have fun, everything will be laid back and we'll get some great shots! A portrait session with me is nothing you need to be nervous about and I'll strive for everything to go smoothly.
I have props (mainly blankets and quilts), if you'd like and I have ideas, but I also encourage you to bring props and ideas you want to use! If your kids don't like to smile, I'll make the best of the adorable, in-between moments. Depending on how everyone is positioned and a few other technical things, I can try to use my Photoshop, head swapping skills in post processing to try and get at least one perfectly posed, smiling photograph.
After your session, I sort through all of your images, pick the best from the duplicates and push aside any that are blurry, awkward or unflattering. Then, I edit each final image, by cropping, adjusting color, retouching, taking out background distractions and more. Lastly, I carefully convert all edited images to black and white, so you'll have both versions in your gallery.
Editing can take up to 2 weeks, but it usually doesn't take that long. It all depends on the size of your session collection, the size of my workload and whether my daughter is in school, or on break. Click here to see what kind of editing is included and more editing info!
After the editing is done, all of your session's edited images will be uploaded into a private viewing gallery, ready for you to download! Professional prints and more can be purchased separately through your gallery if you choose. You will also receive a print release if you prefer to print elsewhere.
*Didn't receive your gallery, but you should probably have it by now? As long as your session fee has already been paid, the only reason for this should be that your gallery invite went to spam. Check your spam folder to see if it's there, but it never hurts to ask me! I aim to have all galleries finished and sent within 1 week of shooting, but there are occasions where it can take 2 weeks, as it's stated in my contract.
Info about no-shows: When you book with me, I block off a date and time for you on my schedule. About a week before the session, I will touch base to give driving directions and other info. If I show up to the location on the session date, wait around, but you don't show up, I'm a mix of worried and disappointed!
I'd hope you'd at least give me a call/text to let me know you're okay! I know things happen, but I will work with people who need a last minute reschedule and unless you're in an emergency situation, I at least expect the courtesy of being contacted.
If there's no phone call about rescheduling and I wait around at a location for you, the retainer payment does not get refunded, as my contract states. My repeat clients do not have to pay retainer past the first one they paid, so if you're a repeat client and you're a no-show, your email is taken off of my vip list for future mini sessions/specials. If a no-show were to try to book again, there would need to be another contract with a retainer payment.
